Can you please tell us some background about your store? |
Melissa Joy Manning was founded in 1997 by its namesake designer. The company's key customer base are retailers, including high-end department stores, boutiques, catalogs and online retailers. In 2007, we decided to launch our own online store to sell a portion of our collection and better educate our wholesale customers and consumers about our brand.

What do you believe is the greatest advantage of Miva Merchant? |
Lots of functionality in the software and responsive service, at a great value. I've already seen a dramatic improvement in service & support since working with Miva Merchant- after a rough implementation start with an external partner, we're really happy with the service we're receiving.

What other shopping carts did you consider and why was Miva Merchant better? |
StoreFront, BigTree Media (proprietary), XCart, OSCommerce. Primarily good value trade-off - ability to have lots of functionality at fairly low-cost. Modular aspect also meant we could add more functionality later.

What were you looking for in an online shopping cart system? |
The ability to use any design and completely control the aesthetic of site. Good functionality in terms of shopping options, multiple images, checkout, etc. We wanted to make it a very easy, user-friendly and an aesthetically pleasing shopping experience. We also needed a good backend system for changing product info and strong reporting functionality. Lastly, we needed the ability to link into existing systems, such as QuickBooks or and in-house Access database, all at a fairly low cost.
